Another exhaust post...sorry
So.....exhaust opinions. I have done some searching but haven't really gotten too far. Mostly interested in two different outlooks:
1. Money-no-object, if you could have any exhaust in the world.
2. Best bang-for-the-buck that still has good sound and quality.
I would say I personally have leaned more towards a louder exhaust in the past on most of my vehicles. I typically want to hear an obvious difference if I'm spending a few thousand dollars, ya know?
Exhaust and tune will be the first mods for me within the next few months. Just trying to get a feel for where to look.
Thanks for the input, guys!

In my opinion: Best bang for the buck in terms of performance gains and sound that is available in the US today, I would say is JHMotorsports. for a full 2.75 inch from downpipes to cat-back. There is a group buy going on now for it. So jump quick.
If money is no object, I would say MTM would be the next system which is a $3-5k thousand dollars more than JHM and is overseas. However, quality is top notch, its full 2.75 as well, and it's valved so you can keep your S button functionality.
Next to me would be AWE which is 2.5 inch and you can choose your options from resonated to non-res, 2 pipe or 4 pipe etc. It's hand made as well and made to order right here in the states.
Finally Milltek has a great sound but not so good performance wise as its same diameter as stock. However there are options for valved and different tips as well.

Money no object, it's MTM, hands down. Not even close. JHM is a good choice, however, I opted for a GMG catback because I love the tone and I am not concerned with the performance upgrades that a 2.75" exhaust allegedly offers. Not yet, anyway. Maybe in a few years.
I would avoid Milltek like the plague.

The sound of the Milltek is pretty awesome. It came with my car when I bought it and I've loved it. I'm only switching to the JHM due to the power difference with the tune. If I didn't care about the power I would definitely be keeping the Milltek. I don't think their $2k+ for the catback would be worth purchasing new. But you can find them for 800-1200 used and considering the recent groupbuy they'll be a few available soon. I have the Milltek with piggie pipes now.

A friend recently fitted a valved Akrapovič exhaust to his S5 (SC V8) - I was very impressed with the quality and finishing of the Akrapovič. Sounds great too.
If I was in the market for a replacement exhaust for my RS4, I'd definitely have Akrapovič on my shortlist.
