Another set of Dunlop 3D's that won't balance...

Re: Another set of Dunlop 3D's that won't balance...
I went to a third balance shop over the weekend, wasn't able to drive her on the highway yesterday, so dunno if it is good, I recon not as several folks here have well documented this.
I contacted TR and told them I am making one last attempt to rectify this (well over $200 now in trying to get them properly balanced). plus, there is a lot of weights on each wheel, which makes me thinks something is just not kosher with these tires. I have brand new rims, and now it is a pain to try to get all the old stickers off as you can see from my previous thread. All I wanted for Xmas is...a nice set of 4 balanced tires...
Last I checked, the 3Ds are on back order...

Time to suspect 'out of round' tires...
it happens, even with the best of them.
I had some Pirelli's years back that were out of round. They were new but I was getting a weird rolling effect, especially noticeable at low speeds and when coming to a stop. After having them rebalanced and no improvement I jacked the car up and spun the wheels by hand. I could see a hop in the tire of about 1/4", the wheel however was true.
Had to return the tires and put another brand on. They were the 2 fronts only in my case. The tire shop wanted to shave the tires to correct the problem, LOL.
Good luck.

I've got 4 stock size 3Ds used for one season on RS4 reps you can have..
for 500$. One of the rims has a slight lip bend. They are 19" hartmann replicas and you can have the 10mm spacers as well that go with them. When I moved from CT/NYC to Boston I went to 18" RS6 rims. The tires have one season on them. I'm between Boston and NYC often. They have TPMS as well...

Try (yet) another set or another brand
I have had excellent luck with Dunlop winters (M2s and 3Ds) on 2 separate cars, but I had a set of summers years ago (8?) that was so out of round that when I sent them back to TR after not getting them to balance for ~10k they gave me a full refund.

I called Dunlop and got a problem tracking number. Take your car to one of their authorized installers and get them to look at it and write up a report. I just did that and need to go back to Dunlop now. I will report back with anything incremental. This has been very frustrating. I still get vibration (more in the rears now).
