I am afraid it will probably continue to hold the road much better than its resale value..

Default Try checking out the resale of the RS6 as those are 3-4 years old now.

They will probably give an idea of resale as those are the only other RS cars in the US market. I don't remember the original RS6 price but I think it was in the region of $80k.

Probably true. If they made it a unique late model biturbo it may have had a chance.

Default FWIW, here is what happened with the RS6..

At the end of what was supposed to be a limited run of 800 '03 cars, AoA dumped about 400 RS6's into the US market as '03's. The cars were built very late in '03 and would normally have been '04's but due to changing regulations, the RS4 could not be sold in '04.

These last 400 cars really hurt the market. By spring of 2004, AoA was offering trunk money and the dealers were offering the last cars at about invoice ($72K). Over the next year, they dropped to the low-mid $60K's and held their value (some even appreciated a bit) for the next twelve months.

Then the RS4 came out and the RS6 resale market took another steep nosedive. I have not looked lately, but last time I looked, cars could be had in the very low 50K's. This is about a 40% drop in 4 years, which is pretty good for an Audi.

Default Here is what Audi Financial thinks...

12 mo: 80% ($59K)
24 mo: 70% ($51K)
36 mo: 58% ($43K)
48 mo: 48% ($35K)
assuming 12K mile/year

Mine is about 8 months old, and in 4 months from now I expect that we will be pretty close to the above. Over the next couple of years, we have the R8, S5, RS5(?), RS6, S8, etc. to interest the Audi faithful. It is a car not an investment but IMHO well worth the money.

Don't blame it on the engine now, truth is Audi's don't have good resale value, never have

doubt that, as much as I would have wanted another twin-turbo terror. I agree with james p.
