Any way of using the iphone instead of the ipod in the glove box?

I have been told this helps/protects the phone. It may be bs, but is easy to do and worth the hassle....

Sorta, if you can tolerate the craptacular user interface on the radio/nav system. Basically, it maps CD disc changer to the ipod function of the phone:

Discs in the disc changer are mapped to playlists.
Track numbers on a disc are mapped to individual songs.

So, no name/artist/album info.

But it charges the phone, which is nice.

One thing to be wary of: the dock doesn't support the iphone well; it kinda hangs in space. I've been meaning to build a little foam platform or something to prop it up.

the phone can go a little nuts sometimes. Blank screens, no service, etc. All of this after unplugging it. Also, it can get really hot. I have been using it for a while and have not fried the phone yet. Sometimes you need to do a power on and off to reset the phone.
