Yeah, that's why I said above "to clarify".. The reason for my mixup
is because according to Radar Roy, the two units are the exact same electronics inside, just with two different badges because one company bought the other.

Bel RX65 and Escort 8500 x50 share the same electronics
Escort bought Beltronics. However, the electronics are fabulous. Quite frankly, all of the following radar detectors are fabulous:
V1
Bel Rx65
Escort 8500 X50
Bel Sti Driver
They are all so damn sensitive that you would have to be a total idiot to get a ticket. All will identify a radar threat well before it shows up on the cop's display.
Some reasons to choose one over the other are:
V1 - those cute little directional threat arrows
Rx65 - voice alerts
Escort - asthetics
Bel STi - Stealth (invisible to radar detector detectors in Virgina), voice alerts.
