Default Anyone changing their own oil?

Reside over 200 miles from my dealer in early phases of engine break-in. Fully intend to exceed Audi's recommended drain intervals for this powerplant.

I have a replacement filter and oil. Is it reasonable to tackle this myself, or have one of these quick change outlets, do it for me?

Default The trick will be getting some ramps to drive up on. Some people do not feel comfortable with that

I would never take a car worth more than US$30K to a quick change place.

I do my own - always have - I wish these ramps were still available as they work great. Those Yellow ones along the wall were too tough to drive up on.

Agree with that. Quick oil change places would have a nightmare with the complicated RS4 oil change...and bad things could happen.

Default I went to the dealer yesterday for my first oil change (1200 miles)

And went in back and watched the entire process. Having a lift available when changing the oil on this car is a huge benefit. trying to attach that belly pan on your back cannot be any fun. I have always changed the oil myself on my cars but I don't think I'm going to on this one. I'm just going to take it back to the dealer each time and watch them do it. (I'm a bit ****) $50 total with filter, I brought my own oil.

This is my first Audi in a while and I have to say the filter location and style is very interesting. It would have taken me a while to spot this had I done it myself.

The Tech was very nice and he also coded several of the changes for Euro lights, keyfob windows up/down, etc.

Thanks to this forum I was able to bring in the specific codes to plug into his machine to make those changes.

Default It's takes about 5x longer than other cars...

There's about 20 fasteners holding on the bellypan, the reassembly needs to be in a certain order, plus the filter is not easily accessible. For example, BMW has a hinged trap door with a one-fastener latch directly under the drain plug. To make matters worse, you cannot use an oil extractor (suction device) with the RS4 motor. Why in the heck Audi engineers decided that it would be a good idea to take the car half apart for routine maintenance is hard to understand...

So, doable but very time consuming. Good luck.

Why can't you use an oil extractor on the RS4 ?

Oil pan design only allows you to extract about 2L at a time, before you suck air.
