is anyone expecting to get their RS4 below MSRP?

Not in the San Francisco Bay Area. . .
I spoke with a guy today that drove up in his WRX STI. He indicated that he used his S4 for the track and was 17th (yes, seventeen) on the list at a local dealer for his anticipated RS4. No bargains here. . .

it wasn't a dream, but I am getting it below MSRP.
not much though, $73,000 (MSRP is $73,520., including destination and GG tax)...so $520 below, no big deal. the sales manager agreed to it because I won't be servicing the car at their dealership (I live much closer to another Audi dealer that I use for service).

That's weird...I'm not surprised about less than MSRP, but the reasoning baffles me...
...dealers make most of their money on service and repair, whether it's covered by Audi or not...why would they discount a car because you will not provide any further income stream for them?

I don't really understand it either...
...but I wasn't about to debate the issue with them. IIRC, the RS cars (as well as the A8) trigger a higher level of service than other Audi models...mandatory service loaner, and I think they dispatch an Audi tech directly to you if the car ever breaks down on the road. So maybe that has something to do with their rationale....I don't really know.
The impression I got after a day of negotiating back and forth via telephone is that AFS is not very flexible on the residual and MF for leasing the RS4, so the only other points of negotiation were the selling price and their offer on my trade-in. They moved a little in both of those areas and we have a deal!

Sorry...my crystal ball in on the fritz...
...but I wouldn't be surprised to see transaction prices below $70k on new cars with premium packages once the initial demand is supplied...maybe after the first of the year, and once the M3 makes its auto show debut.
There's a lot of competition in this price range, with more coming...

Re: is anyone expecting to get their RS4 below MSRP?
I heard today when I was picking up mine they only plan to produce them for about 3 model years at 1000 units delivered to the US per year. Once the demand has died (which may not happen at that low production rate) you should be able to haggle. It also depends on your locale - if you're in rural America you probably would get a great deal... suburban Philly... MSRP - sucks.
