Default Anyone have a phone cradle? Operationally, a cradle isn't needed with bluetooth but...

... but I had one in my BMW because it also provides:

1) A secure place for the phone
2) Automatic charging
3) External antenna for better reception

It's $257 w/ my 10% discount, so not a great value. Anyone have one? Pics would be appreciated.

Thanks

Default the cradle in the armrest?

AFAIK, that cradle only works with the Audi (Motorola) phone, which was $900 from the dealership last time I checked.

Maybe I'm missing something, but doesn't the car already have an external antenna?

Default You can now get a cradle for certain phones....

For example, some phones from Verizon have issues connecting properly with Bluetooth b/c of the blocks, the cradle allows those phones to connect to the car like Bluetooth (contacts etc.)

http://storage.audiusa.com/bluetooth.pdf

Default Yes. The car has an external antenna, but if your bluetooth phone isn't in the cradle...

then you are using the phone's antenna. The A Bluetooth phone uses the wireless protocol to communitate with the car, but it cannot "carry" a remote antenna signal.

So put another way, only with a physical connection between the cradle and your phone can your phone utilize your car's external antenna.

The car doesn't come with a cradle, you need to buy one specific for your phone, then snap it into the armrest.

Default I dunno...reception hasn't been a problem for me.

I usually just leave the phone in my laptop bag in the back seat.
