Anyone here have any warnings before I have a line-in jack installed on the audio system?
I am thinking of taking it in to a very very reputable aftermarket tuner, the kind that is featured in magazines constantly.
They say it should be a cinch to install a 1/8" jack line in so I can connect my Creative Zen M Vision player. Granted I will still need to use the device to change tunes, but I will have all my playlists and be able to keep my device, I am not an iPod fan. Any warnings? Potential screw up the car's electronics? Etc? Any schematics of the car I can use to help them? |
Make sure you have your radio code incase the headunit goes into SAFE mode while unplugged.

Ok, but what is a radio code and how do I get it?
|
It's an anti-theft feature...
If the radio is disconnected for a long enough period of time, it will lock itself (to deter theft), aka SAFE mode. To unlock it, you need to enter a 4 digit code. The code should be written in the owner's manual, or possibly in the radio manual. If it's not there, the dealer can get it for you.
** I do not own an RS 4, but this is how it's been in all my Audis. Hopefully someone will chime in if any of this doesn't apply. :>) |
Thanks for pointing that out!

I got the code on a tag from the dealer.
|
i never got it explicitely, could it be in the car? was it on a label?
i recall a label in the armrest storage of my car when i first got it, don't know what happened to it.

They may need a VAG-COM to activate the input...
Unless you are going through the CDC input. I would post on navplus.us/forums/multimedia--those guys (especially TeddyBGame) know everything.
