Anyone run a dyno "deflapped" yet???

Feels like a massive gain on the bottom end. Just deflapped a few days back and this thing is definitely faster up to 5500 rpm, after 5500 it feels the same. The biggest thing you can feel right away that there is no flat spot through the rpm range! Just feels a lot more linear. No codes have been thrown and oil temps. are running normal.
Also, intake sound is louder, but in a good way... Leads me to believe flap is for sound and economy.
Just do it! Might be the edge we're looking for when a new M3 wants to have at it...

makes sense, as the flap opens at higher RPMs anyhow, right?
and since the RS4 is already a gas guzzler, keeping fuel consumption down for normal driving was probably an important factor in design decisions.
the airboxes in the B5 1.8t and 2.7t also have flaps.

I think we will see bigger torque gains than hp below 5500...
Which is what this car needs, torque is the true measure of usable power. I would not think there would be any gains up at peak hp range, unless the fuel enrichment to correct for airflow is tweaking tuning up to red line. Just thinking out loud...
For ****s and giggles, I chowdered some dude yesterday in a E63 wagon, fun!

i'm sure...
you're really feeling the torque at low end, like you say. i totally agree with what you're saying, makes perfect sense...especially about torque being the usable power.
