Default Autoexpress M3 vs RS4 with performance metrics!

Someone from M3post scanned the article from a British magazine.

Article says M3 is better on track but the RS4 is better for everyday. Overall they choose the RS4. What really suprised me were the performance metrics, I figured with RWD the m3 would be faster.

0-60
M3 4.9 / RS4 4.7

30-70
M3 4.1 / RS4 4.1

30-50 3rd Gear
M3 2.9 / RS4 2.8

30-50 4th Gear
M3 4.1 / RS4 4.1

50-70 in 5th
M3 5.1 / RS4 5.1

Granted this is all for the much lighter Euro RS4.<ul><li><a href="http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=71863">http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=71863</a</li></ul>

Default So, what does "better" on the track mean? It certainly doesn't mean faster.

Early test results all give the check mark to the RS4 as the faster car around the track.

Default I kind of doubt the RS4 would be faster with a pro driver.

As great a car as it is, its not exactly a razor sharp handling machine.

The RS4 might be faster around the track then the M3 with a non-pro driver.

Default It depends on the pro driver just like it depends on the regular driver...

some drivers are AWD pros and other RWD. Plus, there is always a better driver out there.

I agree the M3 is in most pro driver situations the better and faster track car though.

Default

Its weight distribution and RWD will always make it a more focused track car.

Default At least two publications have commented that the steering is less optimal than in the RS4

Not sure how to measure razor sharpness, but I'd say steering feel would be a big impact on track quality. Although I am not a track person so maybe I'm missing something here.

Default Yes it is, especially the guy that calls for the OP to be banned for setting a bad example

LOL, let's get real.

Default Ben, you need to sign up for the Audi Club Watkins Glen event

Then you'll experience what it feels like to drive on the track. The best modification you can put in your car is a driver mod. Best money you'll ever spend.<ul><li><a href="http://www.neqclub.org/index.php?option=com_content&amp;task=view&amp;id= 66&amp;Itemid=1">http://www.neqclub.org/index.php?option=com_content&amp;task=view&amp;id= 66&amp;Itemid=1</a</li></ul>

Default I know, you've been saying that for a while and I've been agreeing, I just haven't had the time yet

but I absolutely will do it. I won't be able to make Watkins though, just way too much going on.
