Bob W., do you have a MAF log that starts at around 2000 rpm and goes up to 8K?

Here are some fun data logs with the intake flap open and closed
This is very, very preliminary, but I thought I'd share.
5 back-to-back runs in the stock configuration with the flap closed (red). 4 back-to-back runs with the flap opened (blue).
All VAGCOM runs were performed back-to-back within minutes of one another at the same outside air temperature. With the flap open, intake temperatures in this case run about 10C higher. This increase in temperature would normally decrease the air mass by 2%, but in spite of this, there is a small advantage in mass air flow when the valve is open.
The ECU was reset before the stock run, but was not reset when the open flap run was performed.

I think the ideal setup is going to be....
...no flap, no lower air horn, cold air feed to the lower inlet. With the air horn removed, I think there's enough room for a flexible feed line, and there's still that little lip on the airbox where a line could be attached. The question is where to route it...
