Default Brake pad cracks

Noticed these cracks on my front brake pads after my last track day:

Ferodo DS2500 club pads, used only for track days. Is this normal? Are they still OK to use?

Default Toss 'em..

I wouldn't recommend DS2500's on the track anyhow. They're not nearly aggressive enough. Better suited as an Autox type pad.

Default No good, don't use them. DS2500 are my street pads I wouldn't go on a track with them...

If the Pagid RS14s are available then try those. You may want the DS3000s but I have had them in the past and switched to Performance friction and the DS3000 don't even come close.

In either case the three pads mentioned here are race pads and are not legal for road use. They need heat to start functioning properly and when cold (like in street use) stopping distance is greatly increased.

Also they make a lot of noise and are dusty. You won't have a choice but to swap them out for street/track use.

Default Re: Porterfield R4 or Ferodo DS3000

DS3000 will kill the finish on your wheels unless you clean them right after, the material can get embedded in your paint.

Default Been told by an experienced track guy that Hawk DTC70s are good with our cars

And while Hawk does not have them ready made, I can send them my old pads and they can have a set done for me in a week

Default We recommend Carbotech for our track pads.

XP10-XP14 are great pads for the track on the RS4.
