Default broken mirror

Ok...so I left my car at the airport and when I returned someone had run into my drivers side mirror. No other damage, but now I have to buy a new one. Anyone know of another option besides special ordering from the dealer? It's over $900!! Just checking.

Thanks.

Default Never in a million years- you get a ding for every claim

MUCH better to eat the $900 if you have to, or find one at a salvage yard, than to file a claim that will stay with you for 5 years with your insurance company.

Default I thought you only got a ding if it was your fault......

At least that has been my experience

Default Not necessarily-

If you file multiple claims, even if the damage is not your fault, some companies may see you as a higher risk and raise your premiums. For example, if you frequently park your car at an airport, they could argue that you are placing your car at a risk for vandalism/theft/accidents that is higher than it would be if you only parked at home and work.

From what I have read, it boils down to whether or not your insurance company can recoup their payments to you. (IE, is there another "at-fault" person involved who would have to pay your insurance company back.) If you hurt the bottom line of your insurance company, one way or another they are going to hurt yours.

If your deductable is $500, I personally wouldn't file a claim to get $400 back on the mirror.

Default Is it damaged, or just knocked off the posts?

If the latter, you can just snap it back in, but it takes A LOT of force.
