Default Burning through oil!!!

I've only got 14,000 miles on my RS4 and it's been in three times to have oil added, not including regular servicing. Is this common? I'm not out beating on the car, but I do love to drive it like it's supposed to be driven.

Default Ditto. Ours used some in the first 5K, but has tapered off now.

Default Are you filling to the top mark on the dipstick?

If you fill to the top, it will burn a little oil. Leave it in the middle and it should not burn any. How much have you added each time?

The analysis didn't find anything wrong and since it's under warranty I have the dealership fill it for me. They told me it was something called "blow-by" but I didn't know if that was something all of them go through.

Default Start checking it yourself...

You care way more about your car than they do. A certain amount of oil consumption is considered within normal limits. Most car are using zero oil but if it a quart every 5K I wouldn't worry too much.

Default quart every 1200 miles

I know it seems high, but I average a quart every 1200-1500 miles. Dealer says that's normal and as long as they top it off every time I'm ok with it. What kind of "analysis" can be done?

Default Normal

I would say that's normal, on my V10 S6, I've added a quart 2-3 times now at 15 miles. On turbo cars, a quart every 1k miles is sometimes normal..

Default Seems high on NA car

That's high, on a turbo car ok, but NA, I don't think so.

Default Re: Normal

I feel better knowing other people are going through it, but it still drives me crazy. Plus I think the service guy thinks I have a crush on him. Ugh.
