C&D Tests the E90 M3
0-60 in 4.1, 1/4 mile in 12.6 @ 113mph. And they tested a fully loaded M3 for $64,450
I expect the 7-speed M-DCT to run maybw 3.9 to 60. And yeah the road they test on is just a regular surface with no VHT or any prep. A drag strip would obviously be stickier.
I wonder how they managed to run such a reasonable time with no 4WD. Must be a miracle.<ul><li><a href="http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/hot_lists/high_performance/furious_four_doors/2008_bmw_m3_sedan_short_take_road_test/(page)/1">C&D E90 M3 test</a></li></ul>

And then maybe BMW slipped them another ringer.....
remember the article where the car that went to the magazine was considerably more powerful than the comparison car the average consumer was getting?<ul><li><a href="http://forums.caranddriver.com/auto/board/message?board.id=21&thread.id=190014">http://forums.caranddriver.com/auto/board/message?board.id=21&thread.id=190014</a</li></ul>

I guess this 1 was also a ringer. Different colour & it ran 12.5 @ 115. It's all rigged I tell'!

Better old and been around the block than young and naive my dear:)
Unless things have recently changed, unlike some car companies, BMW itself administers it's press fleet. This is no different than when Detroit used to slip Muscle car ringers to the press.
During a SoCal BMW comparo drive, some people noted that the Audis used on some low traction exercises had bald and under-inflated tires. When folks pointed it out, the instructors just winked and carried on.
There is a pattern here. It may be done by well meaning individuals and not the corporate whole, but it's not very flattering.
