C&D tests RS4 & R8 against other cars at VIR...

Wow, not so good . . .
Slower than a 335i even. The R8 fared a wee bit better.
But then again the only other car in that group that I considered buying, when I bought my RS4, dissapointed as well, the 997tt.

Like I said in the past the biggest problem with Audis is their weight. Now the RS4 is a good car...
But God please tell Audi it is too fat and heavy. Of course there are other things that could be done to make the RS4 handle better but some people here believe DRC is the best thing since sliced bread. For a stock 335 to beat on a track is pretty bad IMHO. However I don't expect much out of Audi until the new platform/chassis come out next year. Hopefully lighter and better balanced, these new cars should close the gap on the BMWs.
Even the R8 is heavy! Considering it uses an aluminium space frame it is barely lighter than the 911 TT which uses conventional steel construction. BTW, I'm not too impressed with the 911 TT's performance so far on the track. The best car for road use and tracking is the GT3.
Time to make the Cayman S what it should really be.

Porsche marketing won't allow it and that's very unfortunate...
But before you say the 911 is dead, the GT3 is still most likely the best all around road/track car available today. Please let us not forget that the GT3 is almost 100 HP down on power when compared to the Z06. On a power circuit that means a lot. In another test done by another magazine it beat the Z06 around the track and the professional race car driver that did all the driving said the car was is some cases (as far as he could tell) 10 to 15% away from its limits in some of the turns.
I'm a proponent of phasing out the 911 for a more modern chassis like the Cayman S. If Porsche spend as much time, money and effort into developing the Cayman as they do the 911, them for sure you would have an amazing car.

exactly....this was a 4.2 miles course! very well suited to 505 hp.
I wish they would do some testing at Road America!
Wonder what the result would be if they put a Cayman S in the mix with a 3.8 X51...
