Default Can someone explane any chassie differences between the B7 RS4 & B6 S4?

There is a guy on e46 stating this about the RS4 vs M3 thread going on...

"The RS4 will still beat the M3 CSL so it doesn't matter.

If you really want to keep it heads up, you need to compare newest to newest. The RS4 is the new chassis. The E92 M3 will be the new chassis. So we need to wait until the E92 arrives to make a comparison.

Which I'm pretty sure the M3 will outshine the RS4. I don't think BMW AG was too thrilled when the Audi beat them."

It just got me to wonder, what exactly is the difference between the two chassies?

Default Unfortunately no one has attempted to test the RS4 vs. "CSL".

Top Gear did it but it was CS not CSL which is different. Leo can comment on that one I'm sure.

Yeah, I know. My main question is what's the diff between chassies.

Default Comparison of E46 to RS4 can be made simply because that's all that you can buy right now

It's silly to say you can't compare them simply because they are from different generations.

All that matters is what the consumer can buy at a given moment.

And correct me if I'm wrong, but the RS4/B6 S4/B7 S4 all share the same chassis. It's not a new chassis

Default I hope someone can answer that but I think there were slight mods done to B7.

Of course the torque split appeared on the 6-speed manuals but I can't remember whether there was anything else. I think mainly upgraded parts IIRC.

Default why don't you tell them to wait until the E92 M3 actually exists before talking ****?

DRC is one huge difference between the B6/7 S4 and the B7 RS4, BTW.

Default not the same chassis.

the RS4 is the only currently available Audi with DRC.

true, "chassis" is the frame + all the running gear. so quite a bit different in the RS.

Default the CSL is a purpose-built track car. i think it would beat the RS around most circuits...

...but almost unfair to compare. most CSLs are not really luxury sport sedans - no AC, stereo and other creature comforts. the trunk is cardboard!
