Having driven next to a R8 in Germany...YES, the growl is deeper

Equal length tubular headers will do that

Default i'd say it's clear from the picture that they are not equal length tubes

Looks to me like one of the ports has a shorter header. Could that be port 2 which has an exhaust overlap with port 1?
