Carbon Fiber engine covers yellowing??
With only 10,000 miles on the clock my engine covers are starting to get a yellow tint to them. Has anyone else experienced this?
Thanks

Yes, at a car show the other day i noticed....
the 07 cf engine covers were silver in colour where mine is yellow, in fact so much so a dude at the show n shine thought mine was "gold Leaf" cf ? 26,000klms and gold as hell.

I think it's the clear-coat, not the CF itself.
I stood about 5 feet away from the carbon brake rotors on the R8 race car *after* the 2000 ALMS race in Ft. Worth, and they didn't have any of that yellowish discoloration....obviously they were subjected to more heat than any of our trim pieces will ever be.

Green here, I'm having the local rep replace mine....
I don't buy this normal stuff. I'm sure R8 owners aren't going to accept their carbon turning green when it's all in plain site so why should we?

I've seen a fair bit of UV type damage on clear coated carbon fibre. Be interesting how the R8
do hold up to the elements. The C/F on motorcycles starts to look pretty ratty after a few years partly the UV thing and partly road rash.

the draw back to carbon fiber covers is yellowing/greening
You are not going to bypass that one...that is why lots of the show car guys put them on before they go to the show..and then remove them afterwards.
