If you do not live local to one of these shops offering cleaning of the carbon problem, does anyone know if you pay the dealer to do it will they? or is audi not going to acknowledge that this buildup exists?

Around $600 including parts has been reported to be avail. at certain independent shops . However the OP asked about the stealer doing the work

I have heard numbers of $1200 plus for this job at the stealer...

my dealer is doing the cleaning as a warranty job because the buikdup is causing a rough idle and flashing cel. first they ran injector cleaner and that worked for about a week and the it came back. so its going in monday for a cleaning

outside of the shop on long island could anyone recommend an independent audi shop in NJ that is doing this work?

That price was a promotional thing only. The price has gone up about $150 since then.
