Default CEL.....

Came on. Dealer said the code was a "random misfire". Anyone experience this? Anything I should be concerned about? The light has not come back on since. TIA.

It seems that the carbon buildup on the intake valves is the culprit - check out this and other forums for stories

Thanks, I will look into. With only 6,000 miles on the car, I wouldn't think there would be much buildup.

I agree that carbon buildup is a likely cause in this vehicle at this mileage.

You would think… but you'd be wrong.

Default Fuel Presure Sensor TSB

Random misfire could be build up as it was done to my car. They cleaned it then of course never fixed the problem. After the third trip it was the TSB on the fuel pressure sensor.

Haven't had a problem since.

The carbon buildup on the valves 'issue' is a direct result of the direct injection... there are issues with almost every manufacturer, some more than others. Some have being trying the "walnut shell" method or other chemicals to clean this build-up... with great results.

as for the random misfire faults: as the dealer would do, clear the faults and drive the car.. if the CEL comes on then you'll need some further diag/repair.

i will elaborate more on the chemicals currently used on our porsche vehicles.. and pass the info once available.
