Clean Subwoofer Installation
I'm going to attempt an aftermarket sub where the factory bose resides. It's a custom bose jobbie(the speaker) so it'll be a little tweaking to get the new speaker to fit just right.
The most important goal on this project, aside from getting it to work, is to have a clean/OEM look once finished.
Hardware:
1. <a href="http://www.carstereomall.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2008/02/kicker-compvt-08cvt84.jpeg">Kicker CompVT 10"Sub</a> (slim design for this application, might have to go 8")
2. <a href="http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/images/shop/large/alpine/b_pdx1600.jpg">Alpine PDX-1.600 amplifier</a>(600 watts of bass...ooh baby)
Wish me luck! Pics of install to come in following days/weeks.
I'm finding it's always good to have an RS4 project either in the planning/completion stage

Using the trunk as the box, so free-air i guess :P
On the suggestion of a car audio guy, i'll try and insulate any gaps in the frame to keep it as airtight as possible within reason.
The key issue for me is to keep the install as invisible as possible and OEM-like. Time will tell if this is wishful thinking

I wouldn't advise this.....
Of course since you have a 600 watt amp, it may work. Subs are really designed to work in certain sized enclosures. One of the most complex parts of my install was getting the exact internal box volume in a shape that sat flush against the rear seat, wasn't too deep front to back and left enough room to mount the amp on one side.
Anyway, with 600 watts, you may just have enough brute power to get bass out of anything. Let us know how it turns out.
