Clunk coming from front struts - DRC?
When I first drive the car I hear a clunking sound from either of the front struts when I hit any road imperfections like cracks, small potholes, manhole covers, etc. It only seems to happen during the first 10 minutes or so of driving. Once the car is warmed up, everything seems normal. I live in Boston, so obviously avoiding bumps is not an option. I also try not to drive aggressively over any bumps, so that's not the problem. The car has 6,800 miles on it and I bought it new, so I know the history of the car. It makes a sound like the shock has run out of travel and is hitting the end stop. That wouldn't explain why it only happens before the car is warmed up though.
Any thoughts?

Sounds like the DRC to me (more)...
If it is the DRC it will get worse over time.
It seems the cold weather brings the problem out. I'm having a similar issue and someone else I've been in contact with is as well.
It seems the solution is to completely drain the DRC system and recharge. They might need to replace the central valve as well.
The noise can also be caused by a shock that is leaking and in that case the shock needs to be replaced and the system recharged.
I would bring it to the dealer ASAP.

A4/S4 notorious for the brake sound, so RSIV could be right
and it almost sounds like shock compression too, but more metal sounding. best thing is to take it in to dealer and have them check it out.

Not clear. It could have been after transmision was dropped for clutch hose.
Not a big issue, but it caused an annoying clunk, which I thought was the brakes, since I'd recently had Ferodo pads installed and I was braking much harder.
