coming up to first oil change

coming up to first oil change
Will likely be through 1800 miles by the end of the weekend.
What oil is recommended on the first oil change?
What type of filter is recommended?
Is the dealer best to go to for this?
Thanks.

Lots of options on oil, just make sure it's Audi approved. I used Castrol Syntex 5W40 cuz it was the only approved oil that AutoZone carried. Get the oil filter from the dealer (expensive for an oil filter - about $20). Most report an RS4 oil/filter change at $200-$250. You can do it yourself for about $75.
The oil filter is on top of the motor - under the rear carbon fiber cover. Under the car, there's a lot (about 20) fasteners holding the belly pan. But if you want to make things REALLY easy, get an oil extractor and pull the used oil out from the top )through the dip stick). That way you don't even have to jack the car up. It will take about 9 quarts to refill. And it would be a good idea to get an oil analysis as well. There's lots of them, I used Blackstone Labs ($20).
Cheers!
