Default Conti Sport Contact

When the dealer CPOed my car they put the Conti Sport Contact tires on my car.

I told the sales man that I wanted all-season which are cheaper.

Are these tires any good?

Are they just bad when temps are below freezing?

I guess I can either buy an additional set of tires or not drive it in the winter which seems a waste with the AWD.

Pick up the car tomorrow...they claim the rims look brand new. I hope they look good and are in good balance. How do you think the refurbished them? Do you think they ground down the curb rash and repaired with metal or do you think they did some type of putty/epoxy crap job?

I believe those tires were one of the OEM options for the car and are decent. Like any tires, you'll find reviews saying they suck, and other reviews saying they are the best tire ever.

High performance all-season tires are crap. I used to use them on my old 330. They are decent in the summer, but not quite as good as summer tires. Unlike summer tires, they actually work well in cold weather. But they do NOT work in snow. Maybe regular all-season tires like you'd find on an average family car might work ok in the snow, but not high-performance all seasons. In the snow, they really aren't much better than summer tires. You are MUCH better off just keeping your set of summer tires, then mounting a set of performance winter tires during the winter. That way, you aren't compromising and you're using the best tire available for each season.

As for the wheel repair, most shops bring in subcontractor specialist, like these guys:

I've had several wheels repaired with these guys (and similar vendors) and the wheels always turn out great - just like new.

swesna if you put all season tires on your RS4 you'll be banned!

j/k (sort of)

Those Conti 3 tires are good, not great. Too damn loud for my liking. I want rid of mine. PS2 please (or PSS I guess now).

Thanks. The rims did end up looking brand new. Since they put the Conti tires on I might just get an extra set of rims/tires for the winter.

that's the way to do it. How was the drive in the new car?

as for winters, be careful to ensure they fit..the RS4 fitment is really weird. You need 19s in all likelihood as most 18s won't fit...and you need 8.5 width with aggressive offset (in the 20s ideally) to clear the calipers.

The drive was a good change from the Corvette. I went driving around for 2-hours today just for fun and put the first tank of gas in the car. I did not even know how to open the gas tank but then realized/remembered how to do it since I did use one of those buttons for the trunk.

The only issue is the car is a little out of allignment. I did not feel like waiting longer for them to do it. I wish I test drove it while I was waiting on them to get the paperwork all ready but noticed it as I was leaving the dealership.

But the car is definitely fast and fun to drive. I am traveling to Denver area this week for work this week so organized the garage so it could be parked in there and not just be getting **** on while I am away.

How was the drive in the new car?

I put a set of Pirelli Sottozeros on last winter. Loved 'em. They handle very well on dry/wet pavement. Very responsive, smooth and quiet for a winter tire. And they stick like crazy in the snow.

not bad tires, oem fitment

in the winter I run Michelin PS A/S's and they work fine...
I live in an area with decent snowfall but the roads are cleared quickly
in a more extreme climate winters are required
I lived in such a place, AK
for most of the US A/S's will do fine in the winter (Rocky Mountains, upstate NY, etc excepted)
