Daily driver question
-- Been lurking here for a while. Very jealous of your cars...
Maybe a reality for me later this year when allroad comes off lease.
I asked a question on the regional board that Fluffhead answered -- Specifically which car "beats you up" more -- an S6 or RS4. Would be a daily driver for me -- longish drive 40 miles each way into NYC -- Fluff said RS4 rides better -- that the S6 can be a bit rough. Surprised me -- but maybe RS4 is just a better sorted Chassis/suspension. Anybody with experience in both? thx

DRC
--if you check out the RS6 board they constantly have problems with DRC. Now I dont claim to understand it fully but it does keep the car level under hard braking/accel/cornering, yes? Is this perhaps why the RS4 drives better than an S6 which I dont think has DRC? Anyone have trouble with it in an RS4 yet?

a few people here have had probs with DRC, and a few others have replaced it proactively out of fear
I think the *majority* of people here haven't had problems with it, however. Myself and several others are quickly approaching 2 years and 20k+ miles with no issues. DRC allows you to run a softer spring, which makes the ride more compliant. It's actually a bit softer than the S4, but handles so much better. I haven't driven the S6, but everything I've read about it seems to indicate the ride is fairly harsh.

Re: DRC
I posted recently about DRC failure on my RS4. Failed at about 10 months and 6,000 miles. No track time and relatively tame driving. I didn't realize what the problem was and didn't have it diagnosed until month 13 which is out of warranty by a month. Audi called this morning to tell me they would cover the cost of replacement. Dealer pushed for Audi to cover it.
The failure was very subtle, so I wouldn't be surprised if there aren't more out there that haven't been diagnosed. The tech said there was no visual sign of leaking on the struts or the valve (no oil residue). The pressure in the system was probably just below the 12 bar minimum.

Had an S6 for a bit b/before trading in for the RS4...
...the ride was fairly stiff but not the primary reason for the trade.
I found the S6's interior to be better suited as a daily driver...due only to the added roominess & better ergonomics.
That said, I have no regrets about owning an RS4...it's a much more involved driving experience than the S6 will ever be. I continue, however, to keep my fingers crossed that we'll be graced with the new RS6.

apparently the shocks are a 'wear and tear' item...12mo/12k warranty.
which is total bullsh1t. honestly, if that happened to me and Audi refused to cover it, they'd probably lose me as a customer forever.
