Wow lot more work than the 17s on the A4 - those 9" widths and 19" diameter = tons more surface area

does waxing your wheels make them easier to clean?

Default I really don't think it's worth the effort, personally.

I think the work vs. reward ratio favors installing low-dust front brake pads in lieu of waxing....especially with the OEM wheels.

Default You are probably right regarding value vs. effort...

I was debating if it was worth the trouble since I am putting my summer tires on this weekend. Waxing does make them easier to clean, but they are still a hassle. Are you using the Porterfield pads?

Default yeah, porterfield R4S.

virtually no dust...I haven't washed the RS4 in over a month, and my front wheels appear exactly the same as the rears (in terms of dirt/dust buildup). the pads are super easy to install....the most laborious part is removing the wheels. *tiny* bit of squealing that seems to occur only under light braking at low speeds (i.e. rolling up to a stoplight in traffic) and only when the brakes are hot.

Default A specialized wheel wax is a good idea because it has a higher resistance to heat...

A std. carnuba wax will quickly melt from a hot wheel.

Most sealants (Zaino, etc.) have a high tolerance for heat and can be used on wheels too.
