DCH audi gives back my car with +20 miles and a scrape!
so i finally get my car back with the power steering buzz 'fixed'....they had to replace the power steering "gear" (as it says on the invoice.
the service printout states that the car came in with 2362 miles and left with 2376...when i got in the car there was really 2383...im upset but i let it go...
the problem was fixed and the car felt fine.
when i got home i inspected the car with a halogen light because the dealer decided to detail the car....swirls were very minor so i wasnt upset but when inspecting the front bumper i found a very noticeable scrape right under the headlight!!
im furious but realize that the dealer can pretty much do nothing. they will at most offer to try to buff it out...i certainly do not want to repaint the bumper and i dont even think it needs it
i already emailed my detailer to set up a pre-winter polish and seal so hopefully he can do something about the scrape
anyway...what are your thoughts on this?...i still think putting 20 miles on the car is excessive even given my steering problem.
and if they try to claim that the car might have had the blemish before they drove it im going to tell them 2 things
1. i KNOW i didnt do it to the car myself
2. even if i HAD done it, it is the dealers responsibility to check the car before they drive it (ESPECIALLY 20 miles) to assess the condition of the car
what do you think i should demand from the dealer???

i cant prove it...
all of these issues basically come down to the integrity of the dealership
the most i can really ask for is for them to pay for my personal detailer to try and fix the problem
its basically an issue of whether or not they want to retain a customer or not...they certainly are not the closest dealer to my home OR office so i dont need to stay there by any means...i was actually impressed by their operation and facilities so thats why i went there to begin with
i didnt really question the "20 mile test" while i was there because i trusted the dealer and i knew that all they would tell me is that they needed to 'test the steering problem'
i called today and service was closed so i relayed my problem to the sales associate that sold me the car and hopefully they will get back to me with a desireable answer

Or maybe the kid who washes the cars took it out for a "short" spin,
after the mechanic's joy ride was finished. Just kidding, but I'd make some noise and write a letter of complaint to Audi of America.

You may be onto somehting....
what bothers me is not so much the 14 miles that they "documented"...its the extra 6 that they didnt
im going to call and complain till i get some results...whatever that may be

I keep thinking about that scene in Ferris Bueller's Day Off,
