does the rs4 ipod system recognize different playlists?

The iPod interface in the RS 4 is really inadequate.
It recognizes NOTHING EXCEPT your first six playlists, and identifies them as "CD 1" through "CD 6." I wish I had the CD changer instead.

yeah, total BS in a expensive car. I expected it would read all the artists, etc... and display an ipod like interface. this is my major gripe about the car.

Any aftermarket solution is better. I use a Belkin FM transmitter.
But in fairness, in every other respect the RS 4 cab is as if designed by the gods. I love everything else about it.

How about DICE?
I do not like the FM transimitter (i-Trip) as the sound quality is really compromised.
I used to have the DICE solution in my BMW, wonder if there is a solution for Audi? Far from perfect, but at least it allows you to scroll through artists, albums, etc.

you're kidding, right? how could you prefer 6 audio CDs over 6 potentially limitless playlists???
just make a playlist with your whole library for shuffling, and 5 other specialized lists, as long as you like them. probably could make one of them an auto generated playlist based on highest rated/most played, etc that gets updated whenever you sync your iPod.
i agree that the interface is lacking, but functionally, if you do a little setup it's far better than having 6 CDs.

what advantage does the FM transmitter have over a hardwire? oh yeah...
...none. crappy sound, constant interference from stations, expecially when traveling. it doesn't add any functionality.
FM transmitters bite down.
