My new (to me) RS4 has Unitronic flash, and a GMG exhaust. NE1 know if this means my "S" button is now moot, IE, no reason to ever push the button now?

You will have to go to the website for the flash and see what they say about the sport mode button. For the exhaust - some brands kept a flap in the exhaust that would open up in the sport mode. Others offered models that had a flap and others that did not. You can crawl under and see the rear exhaust muffler and look for the hose that goes to the muffler to see if it was there (needs to be plugged if not used) or look up on the website to see what they say about that model.
