Does XM get better reception than Sirius?
I resally like satellite radio. Frankly, I don't care if I have XM or Sirius. It does seem that Sirius cuts out much more often than XM did on my wife's Honda Odyssey. CAn we swap out Sirius for XM with the existing software in our RS4's?? Thanks

To answer your question...
most comments I've seen on AW seem to favor Sirius. Which one has the better reception quality, I don't know. I believe it's a fairly easy swap, but with a termination of your Sirius service and a subscription to XM. I don't use either, I'm bombarded enough by "entertainment" every day not to have to become hooked on 400 channels of more of the same.

I don't know about the reception with Sirius, my XM is great even indoors with the proper antenna.
It drops when I pull in the garage but then picks back up a few seconds later. I have used it all over North America and Canada with no problems. The post's a few months ago said that the receiver is an easy swap and some are posting free, others like my dealer are saying $100 or more.

anecdotally, people claim one is better than the other in their area. i think they are...
...about even across the country with some geographic inconsistencies (true of all satellite services - in alaska, you can get dish, but not directv, for example).
as to quality of audio. i can say through research and personal experience that XM "sounds better". XMs codecs seem superior and perhaps XM has more bandwidth available than Sirius. Sirius sounds especially inferior in their heavily compressed talk channels.
that said, i prefer Sirius due to its programming. their non-Top 40 music stations are just more to my tastes. seems like Sirius is preferred among the younger AW members as well.

Theres a difference in the way the repeaters are set up for the 2. Meaning different reception->
characteristics.. There was an excellent write-up.
This leads to different reception characteristics and different limitations to each provider..
They are NOT broadcast the same way.
