made the drive up to boston in january...make sure u take the CT turnpike or whatever its called...its the alternative to taking 95 all the way up....its a 2 way highway thats quite scenic and everyone seemed to move out of the way for me on the drive up...very pleasant

If the weather is decent, take the Merritt Parkway rather than 95. You will not regret it.

Default Agree, Merrit to 91 to 84 to 90 Mass Pike. Take route often to Westport from Boston.

No trucks on the Merritt. Avoid 95. Packed with semis and usually has heavy traffic.

Default Merritt == CT Speedway

I learned to drive there more than twenty years ago, and nothing much has changed: it's still one of the craziest highways I've ever seen. I'm not sure there's any heavily congested thruway I've ever driven that has a greater proportion of people driving close to 2x the posted limit.

Beware on I-84 out of Hartford, virtually all the way to the Mass Pike; I've been stopped more than a few times on that stretch.

Never met you, but I already like your taste in cars ;-) I'll probably be in the Financial District at least one of those nights and have an insatiable (well, almost) appetite for beer.

Default Right, Hartford on 84 to Mass state line is definitely a strech on which one should be especially

vigilant.

Default I'll be heading up from Morristown area Sunday late afternoon

Foolish medical conference there. The Merritt is loads of fun, twisty, but also a dangerous road. There are numbers of deaths there each year. Huge sections have trees within 8 feet of the road, and they don't budge. Depending on the time of the day, 95 faster. When I leave the City at 5am I always take 95. If you expect poor traffic though, I would recommend Merritt....
cross the GW, Husdon parkway north to cross county to Merritt to 91 to 84 to mass pike to Boston. I've done this drive close to a hundred times. With average traffic, a stop for gas and a ****, you can do it under three hours from the GW.
If you think you will be crossing the GW around 5-6pm keep your eye out for a black RS4 with CT plates.....
