Default E90 M3 Sedan Spotted

Surprised to see this sitting outside the main BMW dealership here in Auckland, New Zealand.

Looks much better in person than I thought it would, still don't like the rear. I'd suggest the RS4 will probably be as fast or quicker than the M3 sedan - no CF roof and surely more weight with four doors.

I might see if I can get a test drive - I've purchased an E46 M3, 335i and Mini Cooper from the dealership so shouldn't be a problem.

Default

It is approximately 25lbs heavier. The CF roof saved 11lbs on the coupe.

Default I like

the aggressive stance and the side views, but the exhaust placement coupled with an awful looking front and back end equals big skip.

Default i agree with Mac,

i really like the way the 4 door looks except for the exhaust tips too close together, and the treatment of the F and R lower fascia.

Default 11 lbs, sad...

Default Mac, what are you seeing in those exhaust tips? i'm seeing...

them hanging in an unsightly manner below and outside the bumper. also, too close together...that only works if they're higher and integreated into a rear diffuser setup, IMO.

Default Doesn't look too bad, the front end doesn't flow well IMO

especially that fender seam by the headlights, looks too much like a lower end 3 series. Thanks for posting the pic's.

Default I made that up...

Hehe, just kidding. That is the weight road and track just gave from BMW who also stated they tested it to have extremely similar times at the ring. Boy everyone is negative about the BMW cars. How is them going to the huge expense (CF is getting more and more expensive now) adding a CF roof that saves 11 lbs sad? That is awesome IMO and shows the dedication. It was like when Chevy used thinner glass in the zo6 to save a few pounds. That impresses me. Imagine if audi took the same philophy and we had an AWD RS4 that weighed in at 3650lbs? That's stuff we should be encouraging IMO, not putting down and saying it is sad. To put in an expensive CF roof and still come in at these price points is fantastic.

Default R&T, i wouldn't count too heavily on their number(s)

there are other numbers out there which are higher for both. the US models are the key...how much heavier? is there an official US curb weight spec yet?

why is an 11 lbs weight savings with a CF roof sad? well, for the very reason you mentioned. that kind of expense and trouble to save 11 lbs...an expense which is duly passed onto the consumer i might add. you feel like paying a big premium for 11 lbs? i don't!

oh, to me it doesn't necessarily show the dedication, based on a result like that. more like a half-assed effort driven by an interest in exclusivity and addtl profit. not kidding, Mike. let's not be gullible here(an of us).

Default i will go on record as saying that i really like the new M3, both coupe and sedan

i like the looks, especially the 4 door(with a couple minor exceptions). i know this is quite a turnaround from where i was a year or so ago, but it has definitely grown on me.

uh, they're not my pics and who are you anyway? : )
