0-60 and 1/4 mile times. Do you think that is realistic considering the 420 HP in the RS4. I know that there is a weight advantage for the 355i, but I have doubts that it could be so close. The article goes on to state that the unit that they tested produces .5 psi more boost than what is advertised. I'm wondering if BMW is actually tweaking the boost on cars that they are putting out there for the media to test?

Copy of Edmunds review from BMW forum.

The 335i is for sure a fast car, but has nowhere near the composure of the RS4 on low traction surfaces and cannot compete with the build quality and stellar interior of the RS4. I also wonder about the durability of the twin-turbo motor. I have read reports of the engine overheating.
As to your question, it is likely that the 335i makes significantly more than 300hp. It would not be difficult to tweak that futher on a vehicle submitted for testing, but to give BMW the benefit of the doubt- it is normal to have some variation between identically spec'ed cars.
The real attraction of the 335i will be when companies like Dinan take it up a notch...or three!

Re: 4.2 and 12.5 are the best RS4 times I have seen so far.
From Video and Magazine tests. If you really hammer this RS4 (not advised) I'm sure you can get some great straight line performance. This car will consistently launch and pull itself into 4.6-4.8 any day where the rear wheel drive M3's and 3 series will need to have a perfect launch with no wheel spin. I have an E46 m3 as well and let me tell you, launching that thing well takes a lot of luck and skill.

1.Well if you take into consideration that BMW also uses the MotoMan break-in for added HP and 2....
The RS4 is only putting out a small % of advertised HP. Then Why NOT! ;-)

Okay, gotta ask this, Evil...
What about BMW using the Moto-man method? Are you talking BMW, a particular BMW dealer recommend, or what?
Also, the RS4 only putting out a small % of advertised HP? Say what?
