Default EPC and CEL

Driving in the snow and slush today and my low mileage RS4 (16000 mile) showed the EPC error code and the check engine light illuminated. Car driving normally.
Any thoughts or similar experiences? Could it be related to carbon buildup?
Thanks for your comments.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Can it be carbon buildup though? Just curious...
I hope the technician can pinpoint the problem without too much difficulty.

They should be able to figure it out when they pull the codes. If they find no apparent issue then it's probably carbon buildup. When my EPC triggered it cut power to the motor but I guess your's didn't quite go that far.

This morning the EPC code is gone and the CEL still there. Engine feels normal. What was the problem when you had the EPC code?

One should not hide their head in the sand on these issue. You should take the car into a shop and get the codes read
