Default A few questions about european delivery.......

I really want to get a new RS4, but there are several things that deter me from the US model (ie. steering wheel, reflectors, and audi sport suspension) I would like to take a european delivery for these reasons. From what I have heard you save a few bucks on the purchase price anyways so it almost makes up for the extra cost of travel and shipment. My questions lie here: 1. are there any problems with emmisions or is the car identical? 2. what can I expect to pay for shipping and how is that done? 3. Can I trust the shipping company not to scratch or ding the car? 4. Will Audi ship it back to the states for? 5. Do I even need to make the trip over to europe or will they just send it here for me to pick up at port? 6. They don't make you get a US version, do they?

Default Can you specify that you don't want a US spec vehicle?

I hate all the BS regulations this country puts on us. And then preaches to us how "free" we are.

Default I'm sure you could if you want to pony up the extra $30,000-$50,000 above the price of a US RS4 just

to re-import and certify it.

Is it worth that much to you?

Default No for that price I would get a GT3 or a 997 TT......

But that sounds a little exorbitant. I know a few guys on the M3 board that got euro version CSLs, I wonder how they did it. There is not car in the world to me that worth more than sticker.

Default Well, the sticker on a Euro RS4 is about 100k to begin with. 19% sales tax is a bitch.

Then, the legalization process costs you many thousands and a rediculous amount of time. Guys on this forum have done it with B5 RS4's. The costs were $30k+.

The same would go for an M3 CSL. To get a true CSL in the US legally would be very expensive. To do it "illegally" is certainly possible, but it comes at the risk of serious jail time.

Pick your battles wisely.
