Final Score: RS4:1 / mother nature: 0......
My RS4 equipped with 255/35/19 Dunlop Winter Sport 3D motored through 10" of unplowed new fluff without even a flinch. No reason whatsoever to go to a narrower tire and compromise dry road performance for the majority of the time when one is not, in fact, plowing through 10" of snow.

Precisely, narrow tires aren't needed unless you're racing...
and i have yet to see any vehicle out-perform this car in the winter. Get narrow tires if you have a Subaru STI, it's made to look dorky anyways.

VIjay...I drove up from NYC this am and hit a shi$load of slush&snow...
no less than 20 cars off the road from Milford up through I-84. I can confirm that they kick some major A$$ in the snow. Even in the 255 width.
I do have to admit
though, that I do notice a difference from when I had a full studdless winter tire..blizzak WS 50 on the S4...Those things were animals, but were soft on dry conditions, looked a little foolish in the 17".

I ventured out early into the NY winter wonderland.....
for the first time with the RS4 and it was interesting. I still havent gotten my winter tires so I was extra cautious. All things considered the car handled relatively well!!
