Default Firming up the brake pedal

Has anybody tried just stainless steel braided brake lines on the RS4 to firm-up the pedal feel? If so, how much of a difference did it make? I'm not about to drop thousands of dollars to firm-up an otherwise perfectly good brake system.

Default I'm about to install a set. I'll let you know.

They won't cost all that much either.<ul><li><a href="https://forums.audiworld.com/rs4b7/msgs/39658.phtml">Click here.</a></li></ul>

Default Eager to hear your results...

I (along with quite a few others, I'm sure) will be very interested in your results and where you sourced the lines. I agree, the pedal feel could be a bit "firmer".

Thanks, Bob

Default I assembled the lines myself out of Aeroquip components. Shoot me an email and I will give details.

Honestly speaking, I won't be able to tell much of a difference until I get the car to the track. The big difference (if any) will be in ease of modulation.

Default I've used them on a lot of Audi cars. I wouldnt say it is that noticeable...

you sure you need a firmer feel on the pedal or is it possible you're not happy with the bite on the OEM pads?

It's not a bite/pad thing. I'd like the pedal feel of a Porsche where the pedal barely moves and all of the braking forces are modulated by the force applied to the pedal (as opposed to a combination of distance and force, which is what most cars have including the RS4).

Perhaps by design, the initial travel in the pedal (the "squishy" region) brings it to about even w/ the throttle pedal so you can blip the throttle w/ your right foot under hard braking. Once this travel has been taken up, the pedal feel is fine IMO.

Default How about...

the condition of the brake fluid? Wouldn't you think that's more a factor than braided lines?

Default yeah, i agree. Probably just as much. I use braided lines by default...

because they come with big brake kits but even with the added feel of a BBK it's tough to note any stiffer pedal feel. I know they are "supposed" to give that but I'm not sure there's enough expansion in the stock lines for me to feel a difference anyways.
