Default Found this short article about Alusil cylinder linings

Although this pertains to BMWs, I belive that the same material is used in the Audi engines. I noticed that instead of a mechanical cross hatching, the piston walls are etched to roughen them up. PERHAPS???, this is why there is early oil consumption?? However, this same process and material is used in other Audi/BMW engines that don't have the oil consuption problem. Default yeah Nikasil was the Achilles' heel of the BMW motors....

I didn't read the article but for seom reason seem to know the deal. Evidently a strict diet of BP gasoline keeps the erosion to a minimum. Lower sulfur I think?
