Noticed a faint smell of gas in the garage and sometimes when I drive. Heard a hissing/popping sound from the engine bay and noticed a very fine spray/leak in the area in the photo. Anyone else with similar problems? Any suggestions(other than checking with the dealer)? Thanks in advance

DO NOT drive it
atomized fuel is very explosive
call the dealer immediately, this is a safety issue


it looks like the fuel metering valve is leaking....
they may clean it off, tighten it a bit, and check it
but let them do it, it may need a gasket/seal/new sensor

Thanks for the help - I figured it was related to the metering valve or the high pressure pump. Seems intermittent in nature but certainly a safety concern. Is this common or just one of those things? Couldn't see much about it in the search feature(mostly littered with carbon build up threads!!) Thanks for your help!

Nope, one side only. Hopefully no impending detonations as Elevens alludes to! That would ruin my day

What was the conclusion to this problem? I have the exact same issue (noticed it 2 days ago) and I'm now wondering if I have to replace the entire hpfp or if I can get away with just the metering valve (assuming they are sold separately?).

Did the dealer fix it by just cleaning and tightening? Did you have to replace?
