Default FYI: I just found Blizzak LM-25's still in stock in our stock-rim's size!

An awesome setup for casual snowboarding trips and driving on slushy/snowy roads. I don't plan on doing any deep-snow driving outside of Audi Club or the occasional late-night parking-lot excursion... so I'm pretty excited to find these.

I called an actual Firestone/Bridgestone store and they had them at the warehouse in 255/35/19... no more turning with the throttle on Toyo T1R's in wintertime on this car.

Default It snowed in Seattle two days ago and

I went through two intersections with full brakes on with my summer tires. It was so slick I could not stop at all. It was barely any pitch to the road. The winter tires must be a great addition.

I don't like the summer tires when snow falls.

Default Snow is only part of the problem. The main problem with summer tires is glass point

... the temperature at which the rubber becomes "hard as glass". Hard to get traction on ANY surface with glass tires. This is why winter tire will outperform summer tires on cold, dry pavement. All-season tires are a compromise and don't excel in hot or cold temps.

Default So what do most people do?

Sorry I am not used to the idea of changing tires. I only have the stock tires. Do people have separate set of tires (and wheels) that they switch around?

Default Unless you want all-season tires.

If you live somewhere where winter gets to below 40 degrees or so, summer tires probably aren't the best option year-round, regardless of precipitation.

Default AchTTung put it perfectly

and switching tires on and off rims each season can be a hassle.

most people get a dedicated winter set, using an appropriate but inexpensive wheel with winter tires, or at least all season if you can't handle the increased noise, vibration, and rolling resistence of winter tires.
