GMG exhaust
#3
My take...
I had mine installed at Stasis 1 week ago (last Wednesday).
Personally, it sounds great. As Jared said it sounds similar to an Italian V8.
I met up with kem & gtc last Saturday. We took some pictures, grabbed a bite to eat and went on a traffic laden drive.
On the way home, while driving through my suburb for about 2-3 miles I had a Range Rover following behind me. We eventually stopped at a light. Below is our paraphrased conversation.
"What the heck is that?"
"The car or the exhaust?"
"Both!"
"The car is an RS4, with a GMG exhaust"
"Well it sounds great. Sounds almost like a Ferrari or a Lambo. I would know, I have one."
"Wow, that's quite a compliment. Thank you."
Overall
-------
The good:
- The exhaust sounds great. It gives you a deeper distinct growl at the lower RPMs(2-5k), yet you'll still hear that wonderful high revving V8 at the peaks. When you let off the gas you also will notice a nice low pitched rumble.
- The coating on the exhaust gives it a sleek look.
- The exhaust is significantly lighter vs. the OEM.
The bad:
- There's a slight drone if you're doing about 50-60 mph in 6th gear.
- Also, while the tips are some what of an oval, they still don't look as good as the stock tips. They're more of a rounded rectangular look as opposed to an oval look, if that makes sense. The tips are a bit bigger in size, and are much more noticeable vs. the stock exhaust. Part of that is due to the finish, and the other due to the size.
Personally, my main reason for changing the exhaust was to get a bit more music out of it. The GMG exhaust does just that. I passed on getting before and after dynos, because at the end of the day for me it was really all about the sounds. It's not perfect, but it's pretty darn good. I'd give it an 8-9/10.
Thanks to Greg (gtc) for the pics, Ryne/Fabryce@GMG and Ford/Beau/Jared@STaSIS.
I'll try posting some more pics up this weekend.
We also took a few videos, but no sound clip or video would ever be able to do this exhaust justice.<ul><li><a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/doctordave/200701006_RS4_GTG?authkey=OSNHqzKG7mg">Click for pics</a></li></ul>

fitment....
the exhaust seems to stick out a bit more than stock...based on other comments from ppl installing milltek's it seems that there is some play when mounting the exhaust and depending on how careful you are it will make the difference between sticking out and flush
is it just an illusion from the pic or does it stick out a lot?
