Get the car to a dealer, or hook up a VAGCOM ASAP.

I had that briefly, then it went to solid, turned out I was getting random misfires, needed a new version of code after the dealer had germany dial into the car. Now the stupid solid light is back about 300 miles later and car feeling a little rough and low in power. I love the RS4, but want it to work.

Default Here is the Vag-com data

The tank was just filled with BP premium 92 octane.

I started it and let it run for a few seconds and then backed it out of the garage to let it idle while the kids hopped into the car. When I looked up the engine light was blinking. I shut it off and then waited a few seconds to restart it - seemed fine and I was late to drop off the oldest to the pregame basketball practice so I headed out.

Default My car did that

on further investigation, the car had the dreaded carbon build up issue. It was disassembled and cleaned but the problem had returned in only 2K miles when I last had the car in for service. I have no followup on that visit, as it was the sixth visit for the DRC as well, and prompted my initiating the buyback process with Audi.

I, too, loved the car. I, too, wanted the car to be right and mine never was. I am incredibly disappointed with initial quality and the inability to repair it. I envy those on this site who have good ones. I did not have a good one.

When it works, the RS4 is an amazing machine. As a daily driver ultra performance car it is (in its optimum state) superior to other cars in its class. I now have a 2009 E90 M3 and I am very happy with it. The car is a hoot. It is an impressive car but not an RS4. Quattro makes the difference in day to day driveability of a supercar. My M3 does get squirrely in situations where I know the RS4 would have been rock stable.

I hope they are able to fix your car, where they had no success in repairing mine in a timely fashion or with repeated attempts.

My advise is to allow the dealership one chance to repair an issue and when/if it returns get on the phone with AofA right away and start working them for a solution.

isnt shell gas suppose to stop/prevent or clean carbon build-up in engines?

i wonder how a rs4 life is on a car that only runs shell vs other gas in regards to carbon.

been running vpower for the last couple months and car is running great and i just hit 25k miles. the only thing im not happy with is the suspension, seems to get loud and clunky and not crisp when cold outside.

when it warms up i will take the car to dealer (already did and they didn't find anything wrong they claim).. i will pruse with audi though. i think the stock suspension is fine for me so i want to keep DRC.

Default The type of carbon build up on this engine is due to FSI, not so much gas brand/type.

Shell V-Power does have detergents and other cleaning additives, but in the RS4 and other FSI engines the fuel is sprayed directly into the cylinder under high pressure.

It is not sprayed into the intake tract where the fuel can wash over and clean the tops of the intake valves.

Thus there will be carbon build up in these engines on the intake and exhause valves over time. Doesn't matter what brand/type of fuel or aftermarket fuel cleaner additive is used.
