has anyone driven their RS4 in high winds at relatively high vehicle speeds (i.e. near 100)?

Default has anyone driven their RS4 in high winds at relatively high vehicle speeds (i.e. near 100)?

a couple of days ago we had 25-30mph winds, and I was on the freeway at one point doing maybe 90-95mph, and a couple of times the car just felt like it was riding on casters...obviously that's a slight exaggeration, but it was a bit disconcerting. anyone else experience this?

Default Yep, for what it's worth my 996tt felt much worse even with all the suspension mods.

I was driving my RS about 120-30 in crosswind of about same speed. It throws you around a bit, but did not feel too bad. Easier to drive than P-car. Do you have aftermarket sway-bars? Might help...

Default no, but it's been on my 'to do' list....at least the rear bar.

so you had this happen even with the Ohlins? I thought maybe it was just a DRC thing.

yes, had the same experience a couple of weeks ago and I must say that the feeling was not that bad. At some point the gusts were much stronger and I had to slow down a bit just to be relaxed. But other cars around were going MUCH slower than me. Nothing to worry about:-) The car is on DRC so far.

Default Ohlins and sway bars do make a difference. I would try out sway bars first...

If that does not help enough, then maybe align it for higher speeds to calm down the steering inputs. I'll see if I can find my alignment specs for you. A tech friend at the local Audi dealer is a Autocross buff and has been playing with my alignment settings to 1. get the car to rotate and 2. Keep speed sensitivity to a minimum. 3. eliminate bump-steer... We're getting there 8-)

I had a C55, S4 and M540, they all suffered from this "ailment" when driving at speed on highway with crosswind (Ottawa to Toronto on 416), I guess it's common.
