Default has anyone else had this experience? In 4th gear doing around 65mph, drop into 3rd gear,

floor it,and the car bogs for about 500rpm's then accelerates normally. I was able to reproduce. There is no problem downshifting into 2nd gear and flooring it. At first I thought I was going too fast and hit the rev limiter, then saw I was only at 5k when I downshifted.

There is a fuel pressure sensor recall....have you had that done yet?

ESP on or off? Car bogs all the time with ESP on. Never had a problem with it off.

On. It was a long enough delay to let an M3 catch up with me

Unless there is bad weather I always disengage ESP. The difference is night and day.

Default In what sense? You're not getting wheel slippage with Quattro and traction control unless

on ice or at limits of lateral grip. How's it going to affect pressing the gas pedal at straight ahead highway speeds, as the original post describes?

I never experienced that kind of ESP intrusion in my A4's or S4. Not cruising on highway, downshifting, and jumping on it...and I did it a lot.

Is ESP now being somehow oversimplified as a culprit for any acceleration complaints? That's not how it works, not what it's there for.

As Vijay says, it bogs with aggressive action, you need to get on it more, do you have an RS4?

Default ASR

ESP disengagement in the RS4 is a two option process. One tap, it disables the ASR, allowing a bit of wheel spin, but leaving the other nannies in place. Press and hold turns off everything but ABS. I drive the car with the ASR off most of the time.

Unlike my S4, where it made no difference most of the time in the dry, it is a big difference here. The RS4 is capable of enough wheel spin on aggressive maneuvers that it will dial back the power to reduce slip when in normal mode. Disabling the ASR makes the car far smoother. No bog, no lurching. Big difference.
