Has anyone else noticed that the the RS4 sheet metal is really thin and the paint is soft?

Default Has anyone else noticed that the the RS4 sheet metal is really thin and the paint is soft?

It seems to me that both the paint and the sheet metal seem noticably softer than my 2000 S4. The scary part about it is that the S4 had soft paintwork too, but it seems that the the RS4 is more suseptible to scratches and dings.

You know of course that the front fenders and hood are aluminum.

mine has rather hard paint compared to my wife's bmw, my old bmw, and parents cars

The paint is fairly soft, but so are all water based paints these days. Sheet metal is fine.

2nd. Bimmers are much softer.

Default That's right,

first lacquers were banned(replaced by enamel), and now automotive paint is water based on tp of it.

Acrylic lacquers were far superior. Now paint is chipped and scratched very easily.

And yes, the paint is softer as a result.

3rd..The paint on my 05 M3 was MUCH softer!

Default I'm trained in PDR. Most German cars have "soft" metal and paint.

In PDR work, that's a bonus.
