[MAF]/0.8 ~ horsepower when dealing with g/s as units. I think you're low on power.
Log a full 3rd gear pull on a level surface (RPM vs time) and compare it to Scott's data to see if your car is performing.
I think a V8 S4 is capable of reaching 300 g/s.
Edit: You indicate ambient temp was 120*F, are you sure?
Are you talking air intake temps or true ambient?

3rd Gear 2 x 153 g/s @ 7960 rpm, 4th Gear 2 x 210.16 @ 7840 RPM, 40F
Recently 2 x 140.72 @ 7600 rpm, 77F
In the higher pulls, the intake flap in the airbox opened. In the latest pull, the flap did not open.

the vagcom software labels it 'marker 070 Ambient Air Temp ( °C)'
there's another marker for Intake Air temp, which is 015. I logged another pull with both of those, and they were very close in value (46-48 deg C).

i'm confused.
2 x 153g/s ? are you getting the g/s values from marker 016 (Mass Air Flow ( g/s)? do these values represent half of the actual total for each time stamp?

i have no idea what you're talking about.
let's back up a sec...when I generated these logs, I started the vagcom software, clicked OBD-II, then 'mode 1 read data', selected the markers (MAF=16, engine rpm=12, etc), clicked log, then start...did a few WOT runs and clicked 'stop', then done. The log file was generated in the log folder, which is where I obtained the g/s values. what is this 'group 3' you speak of?

If you want to know about everything that you can measure, go to the root directory of the VAG-COM install and read the group label file:

ah...ok, thanks.
so I guess you were talking about 'throttle angle'(in measuring blocks) of 99.6 at WOT, whereas I was talking about 'throttle sensor position' of 85.9 at WOT (in the OBD-II logs)...that might explain the difference. I'll do some logging in the measuring blocks tomorrow and see how they compare...I'd expect yours to be a bit higher since you have hi-flow cats.
