I did. No real comparison in terms of power delivery and chassis setup.

Default yes....absolutely worth it.

and it cost me a few grand to pay off the negative equity in my B7 S4 (only 10 months old), but I still think it was worth it.

Default any RS4 owners able to compare 997S vs RS4

in terms of acceleration, handling, etc. I know they are quite different cars, but these are the 2 cars I am considering, and getting a test drive in either car seems a bit difficult in my area.

Default I've driven a 997S maybe 50 miles.

stock, then a few months later with some mods (AWE headers, H&R springs, and an intake). It's a competely different animal than the RS4. The RS4 has more lower end torque, but the 997S still has enough to putt around town at low revs. The 997S doesn't *feel* quicker, but the numbers suggest it is....I wouldn't want to put money on a race either way, though. In terms of handling, the RS4 is easier to drive fast....there's a steeper learning curve for the 997S, but in the hands of a professional it would probably be a little quicker around a track. Both engines sound great at high rpms, but very different.

Either car is fantastic, but really shouldn't be directly compared because they are different in every way (except country of origin).

Default tnx for your help

I know they are different cars... I would love to own both, but unfortunately my wallet won't support it, so I am trying to figure out which one will put the biggest smile on my face.

Default obviously you should try to drive both, but....

...if that's not possible, you could drive a regular S4 and then maybe a pre-owned base 911 at least, which would give you some idea of the differences.

Default I currently drive a B6 S4, and I have driven

a 997. The 997 felt much more like a race car, harder acceleration, stiffer, etc. I am thinking of moving from my S4 to something different.. I guess that is my real question... is the RS4 closer to the 997S than the S4 is to the base 997?

How many grand is a few? You had a 36 month lease and got out at 10 months? I'm in the exact same situation. I'm quoted as being $10k upside down to get out of this lease and into an RS4.
