Default I went Euro mode on the headlights

Euro mode kills the amber corner lights and allows the fogs to work with highbeams.

Murder the automatic door locking "feature".

One press of the unlock button unlocks ALL DOORS.

Murder any horn confirmation of arm/disarm.

You're making me hungry...

Default Talking of VAG-COM... which Ross-tech cable are you guys using ?

The cable I got for my 2000 S4 is not compatible with the latest software so I need an upgrade.

Is this the right one ? HEX-USB+CAN

Default Interesting uses of VAG-COM I've found so far:

This tool is truly amazing, or should I say that I find it to be just the coolest thing ever to be able to ask a car these questions, and get real "live" answers:

1. what is your oil level, in millimeters ?
1a. how long do I REALLY have to wait after shutting off the engine before your oil level stabilizes (hint: it's NOT 2 minutes as claimed in the owner's manual)
2. what is your tire pressure in each tire ?
3. are you level in the X axis ?
4. are you level in the Y axis ?
5. could you help me dial-in a corner balancing with #4 and #5 above ?
6. tell me what your engine output torque is in real time, so I can compare those numbers to an identical car with a Milltek full-length system (poor-man's dyno)
7. your MPG readings are, on average, a bit high, so I'd like you to correct them with a my own factor
8. what is the atmospheric barometric pressure right now ?
9. what gear am I in ?

The ability to log all of these values over time and work with those logs in Excel means you have quite a little test lab at your fingertips.

Does anyone have access to knowledge about how to tinker with the 'really advanced' stuff, without rendering your car inoperable ? (Stuff that requires a login, and which the VAG-COM people refer you to the "Service Manuals" for more information.

I find that logging over time sometimes quits unexpectedly, perhaps because I am monitoring too many modules simultaneously.

I also suspect that the VAG-COM software has to be updated pretty extensively before it will really reveal everything the RS4 is thinking about. Audi is clearly moving more toward CAN, but I find that it isn't really possible to interrogate CAN addresses, at least not yet.

I would also like to know if anyone has access to a roadmap of the valid addresses in the RS4, and what data can be found in those modules... There's way too much trial-and-error without some sort of guide, and each interrogation takes time to complete.

Plus, in at least one case, I have stumbled across a module with a particularly interesting value (tilt in the X and Y axes, for example), never to find it again. (I swear it was there ! I watched the values change as I got out of the car and shut the door).

As for the top-level modules that are valid for the RS4, the only thing I can offer the group is the table I created in Excel to help keep me from poking into modules that don't have anything to offer (which wastes LOTS AND LOTS of time). (See link below)

abwc's guide to valid VAG-COM modules for RS4

Default More specifically, the "arming/disarming honk" and unlock all doors ones?

sparkhill's PDF covers the others...
